The issue I have is that the speaker set up on the PC (it is all built in) is 2.1 but the subwoofer no longer works despite trying all the settings in the control panel in Windows 7. (If I try the 5.1 setting it blue screens the pc and then crashes). I restored XP and it worked fine and then reinstalled Windows 7 but still have the same problem. I have tried the Sigmatel Control panel but that does not work correctly either (the sub does not seem active but it tries to output in 5.1 where as in XP it output in 2.1) Can anyone please help!!!!!
I saw there was another post where a user was able to get it running, but no mention of what driver was used. Thanks in advance!
It seems the default drivers included in Windows 7 are maybe only 32 bit compatible? Dell thankfully offers a set of Windows Vista drivers from their that supports both 32bit and 64bit. And while they are dated 13 th August 2007 they work fine in Windows 7. As mentioned in this article’s comments some people have been expiriencing problems with the combination of Skype, Windows 7 and the Sigma Drivers. Skype seem to be aware of the problem but currently do not offer a solution other than to suggest that you make sure Skype and your drivers are up to date.? We are aware that not all sound and/or video drivers are compatible with Windows 7 when using Skype.

I tried everything mentioned above and nothing worked but I have found a solution when installing the new driver doesn't work - Download the.exe file from dell (the one in the op) BUT don't click on it. Right click on the file and use winzip to extract the files.
When windows 7 released few years ago, I've been struggling to get windows 7 drivers for many laptop which build for vista. At that time, there are only few updates available to support older hardware. The best trick which mostly works for me is by using windows vista drivers and install it either manually or by using compatibility mode. Direct install normally resulting in error. This particular audio drivers mostly used by DELL notebooks but the installation method can be applied on all model.
There are no SoundBlaster Audigy MB software on the Dell downloads as this is an optional at extra cost item that also requires a product key to activate. I don't know if the Vista software will work on Win 7.

Computer: Dell XPS 420 OS: Windows 7 64-bit Sound Card: SIGMATEL STAC 92XX C-Major HD Audio I upgraded my machine to Windows 7 64-bit couple weeks ago; however, the sound card is not working properly. I have Logitech Z-5500 Digital 5.1 Speaker and is required to install Sound Blaster Audigy MB Software. When I installed Sound Blaster Audigy MB Software, I got an error message 'sound card cannot be found'. Without installing Sound Blaster Audigy MB Software, I still able to hear sound from two speakers (not all 5 speakers).
But don't go telling me its vista capable when its not. SigmaTel pulled a nVidia! But if anyone can give me a suggestion or a website i would appreciate it.
Make sure you get your original vista drivers. If you can,t find it leave your model in the comment section below. You can try install using manual installation (read below). Manual Installation: Before proceed, I assume you already try the earlier installation method. If not please do so, or install the driver directly (ignore if error) because we will need it later. If the installation above failed.
So, this is what worked for me. First, completely uninstall the sound card through the device manager. Talash 2012 hindi movie mp3 song download. Don't let windows reinstall it either.

What should I do and is this a driver problem that's causing the crackling noise and corrupting my files or is their something else to this please help because it's driving me crazy? Hi I have A Dell XPS 420 with a Sigmatel Stac92XX C-Major HD Audio Driver and I was running Windows Vista X64 SP1 and everything was working fine. I just recently installed Windows 7 RT Build 7100 and the Generic High Definition Audio Device Driver Installed and all types of media play, but it's causing a crackling sound in my audio and not only that it actually corrupts the file so if I were to play a MP4 on my XBOX 360 it also has the crackling noise even if the file was originally fine.
I recently upgraded my work laptop to the latest and greatest edition of Microsoft’s primary operating system Windows 7, 64bit. Seeing this is the first time I am migrating fulltime to a 64bit Windows system I have decided to keep my old 32bit Windows Vista partition on the same laptop using dual partitions. Everything with the installation of Windows 7 has worked flawlessly accept for one major problem has an easy fix. My Dell XPS M1330 laptop uses an audio device referred to as the Sigma Tel High Definition Audio CODEC. Unfortunately after installing a fresh copy of Windows 7 64 bit no audio could be heard, even though the volume was up at full and all the device drivers reported did not any problems. If you search the internet for Sigma Te High Definition Audio there is not much in the way of helpful results. Thankfully I found a simple solution; you simply have to manually install the Windows Vista, Sigma Tel HD Audio drivers onto your 64bit Windows 7.
The driver mentioned above is just the Windows XP driver provided by Dell, which can be installed on Vista. When I installed Vista Beta 2, and Beta Build 5456, both times Vista failed to find the audio driver automatically during installation. However Windows Update provided a driver called 'SigmaTel C-Major Audio', which has a newer version than the Dell XP one. Although, using the Windows Update driver is fine with the onboard laptop speakers (Latitude D610), but no output is possible through the headphone jack (it reports that it is mono, but is stereo and works fine under XP). Does anyone know how to resolve this output issue? (Note: The XP driver causes it to report no jack information) Driver details below.

You have to find out what model number you audio component has. Since the Vista (and hopefully 7) driver only works for a couple of models: The Sigmatel AC97 audio driver is for Windows Vista, Windows XP or Windows 2000. Technically, it is the rather long winded: Sigmatel C-Major STAC 9750 AC97 WDM Audio Driver. Whatever way you want to label it, the driver package installs version 5.1 of the driver onto your system and can be used as an update to an earlier driver or as part of a new installation.
Unfortunately that did not work. The driver appears to be installed and I have a sound device however I have no output through the speakers. I'm sure it is a driver related issue.
Besides, Both the driver developer's home page and driver download and support page be provided as well in my page.

Hi I have an Elonex Exentia PC which I have recently upgraded from XP (Media Centre Edition)to Windows 7. The soundcard I have is a SigmaTel STAC9758/59 @ Intel 82801EB ICH5 - AC'97 Audio Controller [A-2/A-3] and I have been using the original drivers that came with the PC (SigmaTel 6.14.1.4175)as Windows 7 did not detect the sound card and there do not seem to be any updated drivers that seem to work or install (I have tried the Dell and Gateway ones as others have recommended on other forums and Elonex do not support this PC since they went bust and reappeared!). The issue I have is that the speaker set up on the PC (it is all built in) is 2.1 but the subwoofer no longer works despite trying all the settings in the control panel in Windows 7. (If I try the 5.1 setting it blue screens the pc and then crashes).
With the different devices, they can have the same driver, it's because they all use the same chip manufacturer. How to select driver? If you are looking for an update, pickup the latest one. If your driver isn't working, use the driver having the same OEM with the your laptop/desktop brand name.

Where Can I Find the Latest Drivers? Drivers are usually released by chip manufacturers who then supply them to computer manufacturers. These computer companies will often have drivers available for download on their official websites. But, because every computer manufacturer offers many kinds of products, you can understand why some will not have the latest drivers available immediately.
