This allows me to play through Mass Effect 2 with choices from the original Mass Effect without having to play through the game on my PC, which I *really* don't want to do because I thought the original Mass Effect was more annoying than fun. This was created for the PS3 release and enough people wanted it on the 360 that they put it out there. Only an extremely short sighted person would call this nickel and diming especially given that they haven't tried to restrict the use of alternatives. Believe it or not, some people want to see some presentation of the story rather than playing through an older game like that, or clicking a series of options in a third party program.

Recommend contacting EA support. As I said above, the Genesis comic is not included with the game (except on PS3, I believe). If you didn't register your game on Origin, then is where you'll get your DLC, not Origin.
